It's Autumn - Yayh šāš¹
I don't know about you but I love Autumn. It's my favourite season. I just love the cosy vibes this time of year, the leaves on the trees changing colour and the start of hot chocolate season (too soon? Never, for hot chocolate I say! š). Curling up on the sofa snuggled up in one of my favourite hamster hoodies and maybe getting the slow cooker out to make some nice hearty soups and stews - what's not to love?
Anyway, as it's Autumn, I thought I would share with you all (probably) my favourite hamster enclosure setup I ever did for Comet, my roborovski. I just loved how this setup worked on so many levels for him. He could zoom around on top of all the bridges and platforms, dive underneath them, weaving in and out of all his hides and tunnels, or burrow further down into his bedding.
The only things I would do differently now are:
ā¢ Add even more bedding. At the time, I couldn't go any higher because the ventilation holes on the side of his enclosure were annoyingly low down and I didn't want him hurting himself if he could reach them.
ā¢ Add more forage and sprays to provide more coverage and enrichment.
The ventilation hole issue eventually got fixed, so when my hybrid dwarf Orion later had an autumnal theme in the same enclosure, it meant he could have much deeper bedding to burrow in.
I also did the original version in Comet's Marrakesh enclosure, but I had to destroy that setup because he got weevils right after I created it. Such is the life of hamsters and their sprays in the summer! I was so gutted, I'd barely got it set up and I had to deep clean it all.
In the end, I had to throw the original fox š¦ and owl š¦hides away. But I loved them so much, of course I remade them.

Looking back, I still think this was one of my favourite setups for Comet and I'm glad I got to recreate it for Orion too. šš¹
And yes, I do still have all these hides safely tucked away in storage, ready for use with a future hamster one day. š¦š¦š¹
